Originally conceived as part of the 2024 Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con t-shirt design, this mashup of Halloween III: Season of the Witch and The Thing stuck in my head as an idea worth pursuing on its own, so I finally did! With this drawing, I took the time to teach myself how to create a brush in Procreate. I drew a maple leaf shape, then turned it into a brush, then played around with the various controls and settings for the brush to get it to randomly rotate, change size and change color with each stroke. Once it was behaving in a way I liked, I made this!
I couldn’t think of anything new to do with a clown image until I remembered this quote from Lon Chaney: “There’s nothing funny about a clown in the moonlight.”
